Upon written or telephone request received at the Council ticket office at Canyon Rose Storage two weeks prior to a scheduled event, any of our writtenprogram information will be made available in alternative formats such as Braille, large print, audio tape and /or provision of a personal program reader. The Gold Canyon United Methodist Church where the Canyon Sounds series is held has hearing assist devices available on request the night of the concert. One of the most unique and sought-after chamber ensembles on the concert stage today, the Carpe Diem String Quartet is a boundary-breaking ensemble that has earned widespread critical and audience acclaim for its innovative programming and electrifying performances. Carpe Diem defies easy classification with programming that reflects its passions for Gypsy, tango, folk, pop, rock, and jazz-inspired music, and has become one of America's premiere “indie” string quartets, without sacrificing its commitment to the traditional quartet repertoire.


HARP FUSION

University of Arizona’s HarpFusion has performed all over the world and is considered one of the most outstanding and creative ensembles on the international concert stage. All the music HarpFusion plays is written or arranged by a member of the group and all harpists are students of Dr. Carrol McLaughlin, Distinguished Professor of Harp at the University of Arizona. They have recorded 8 CD’s and DVD’s  and have been featured at festivals in Russia, Korea, Japan, Brazil, throughout Europe, and at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, China. They will be touring to Brazil again in March, 2014 and are only able to do so through their CD sales and concert appearances. CD’s will be available for purchase at intermission and after the concerts.

QG established themselves as dominant forces on the music scene early in their career by winning the coveted title of  NPR Performance Today’s Debut Artist of the Year. The selection panel concluding the quartet was “an amazing ensemble that achieves the nearly impossible: they play salon music with real style and classical music with real precision - great chops and a commitment in all that they play.”

Founded in 1985 by Maestro Hugo Betancourt, Ballet Folklorico “Quetzalli” makes its home in the state capital, Xalapa, Veracruz. They have toured internationally performing traditional folkloric dances, as well as their Afro-Caribbean spectacular, “Carnaval Veracruzano”. The company has been the official representatives for Secretary of Tourism and Economic Development for the State of Veracruz since 1986 having given hundreds of performances across Mexico and the United States, South America, Asia, Europe and the Caribbean.


TICKET PRICES


Tickets may be purchased at four locations.  Our main ticket office is located at Canyon Rose Storage, 6405 S. King’s Ranch Rd. (across the street from Deseret Family Medicine).  We have an auxiliary ticket office located at the Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce building which is located at 567 W. Apache Trail (behind Village Inn).  This site is for the convenience of our patrons living west of Gold Canyon.  Tickets for the current or future performances may be purchased in the lobby of the Gold Canyon United Methodist church the evening of the concert. Additionally, tickets may be purchased on-line in advance via PayPal on the Canyon Sounds page at the appropriate PayPal button. A subscription to all five concerts is only $85.00 for members and $100.00 for non- members and will  include two (2) free guest ticket to any concert (our best value!).  To encourage student (K-12) attendance, student tickets are priced at only $5.00.  Why not treat a young person to the benefits of good music? Guest passes are available to patrons in two ways.  Become a GC Arts Council member at the Prickly Pear level ($100-$249) or above and receive 2 guest passes.  Or purchase a five concert season ticket and receive two (2) guest passes.   Use your guest passes to introduce friends and neighbors to this wonderful arts opportunity right here in Gold Canyon.

JOHN O’CONOR, CONCERT PIANIST

The Irish pianist John O’Conor has been gathering wonderful reviews for his masterly playing for over forty years. Having studied in his native Dublin, in Vienna with Dieter Weber and being tutored by the legendary Wilhelm Kempff his unanimous 1st Prize at the International Beethoven Piano Competition in Vienna in 1973 opened the door to a career that has brought him all around the world.
